What’s a browser cache, and why is it important?

If you’ve made updates in Membes AMS or resolved an issue but aren’t seeing the effect of the changes, it’s often due to your browser cache, not the system itself. Your browser stores old versions of web pages to load them faster, which can sometimes prevent new updates from displaying correctly. Clearing your browser cache ensures you’re seeing the latest version of your Membes AMS platform. 

Each browser has a different keyboard shortcut to clear the cache. Ctrl + F5 is used for common Windows browsers but you may need to check the correct keyboard shortcut for your browser. 

Why does the file repository timeout?

The File Repository within Membes AMS is a separate piece of software that allows you to manage the documents and images for your association website.

If your admin screen has been inactive for a period of time, as a security measure, Membes will automatically log you out.

If you had left the file repository open in a separate tab or window when you were logged out of Membes AMS, you will receive a timeout error message when you try to access a file or image again – even if you’ve logged back in to Membes AMS.

Simply refresh the File Repository window after logging back in and you’re back in business.

How is GST calculated in Membes?

GST in the Membes AMS is calculated using a third-party Java GST library. The rounding algorithms in this library are defined by a third party and built into the Java technology framework.

For each invoice, all line items are subtotalled, GST is calculated on this subtotal, and then the subtotal and GST are added together to determine the final invoice total.

Profile directory geolocation search limitations

The Google Geolocation software used in the Membes AMS Profile Directory interprets postcodes as single points on a map, not the actual postcode boundary areas.

For example, search results for “Profiles within 5km of postcode 4321” depend on how far a profile’s address is from Google's defined point for that postcode, not the postcode area itself.

In some cases, profiles might appear in searches for nearby postcodes if their address is physically closer to that postcode’s central point.
